Day 41, June 20, 2014

Read:  Alma 7-9
Mark:  Alma 7:11-12

"To succor means to 'run to.' I testify that in my fears and in my infirmities the Savior has surely run to me.  I will never be able to thank Him enough for such personal kindness." -- Elder Jeffrey R. Holland

To ponder:
Why is it helpful to remember that the Savior knows what it's like to have your problems?

  1. Okay, is anyone else wondering just what all was taught by Alma that cannot be written? I really want to know!! :)

And, I am also wondering how many times can a people be told that they are making the Lord really angry, and he is going visit them in his anger and utterly destroy them off the face of the earth, and the people still not listen?

I was so excited as Alma visited the people of Gideon and he talks to them and 'trusts that ..." they are basically doing what they have been taught and living righteously, and I love that these people did not let him down!

I love Alma's humbleness as he goes to teach the people of Ammonihah. He tells them that he doesn't know all things, but he bears testimony of the things that he does know to be true. I love this example!

The more I read and study the Book of Mormon, and read and ponder each of your comments, the more insight I feel I am receiving. These scriptures just make me want to be a better person!

  2. I was so worried I missed a day without even realizing it when I saw tomorrow was posted already! I think someone is planning a funfilled day tomorrow! :)
Anyway - it's helpful to remember that Christ knows what it is like to HAVE ALL my problems (not just experience them each one by one, but really experience my experience) because it reminds me that I am never alone. That someone (he) has made it through it and with his help I can make it through all of it too!

Sometimes you do what is right and aren't satisfied in the results - that doesn't mean you took the wrong path! Keep doing what is right - you will be blessed! You are likely to bless the others around you in the meantime. Don't give up!

It is not always easy to tell the truth. It is important that we always tell the truth in the spirit of truth - and not just for the sake of being right or saying the truth. The intent of sharing the truth should be to uplift the people around you and bring as many unto salvation as possible. And even when none will receive you (or what you share) HE will!

  3. Today's reading was wonderful! I really enjoyed it and it brought me so much peace after such a busy day (and week). I can wholeheartedly agree with Elder Holland's words of appreciation and love for Christ. It means so much to me that Christ runs to me when I stumble. He encircles me with his love when I am low. He lifts me higher when I fall short. And he knows, unequivocally, what I am feeling and how to help me in every situation. He is my Savior, my brother, and my friend. He pleads with the Father on our behalf--he's our counselor. If you think about judgement as in a court of law, Christ is our defense attorney for all of our sins and short-comings. God is our judge, but Christ will go to bat for us and will get us the best deal possible based on our actions in this life. It's kind of cool to think of it that way... and when I do I understand even more fully just why Christ has to know exactly what we're going through. Any good lawyer knows how to plead a case to the judge and/or jury. To properly do so they need ALL the facts. They need to know your state of mind; the exact line of events. What were you thinking or feeling? How did you try to resolve the issue? Etc. They'll take all those things and put together why you are innocent, or, if you're guilty, they'll use that information to bring a lesser sentence. Christ has to know everything to bring us our best eternal reward! I think I watch too much Law & Order... LOL!

I'm so happy to have Jesus on my side. I feel like no matter how bad things get that it won't matter so long as I am able to hold on to my testimony of Christ and God's eternal plan of salvation. I know that this life is a huge trial, but I know that if I work my butt off now that I will be at so much greater of an advantage in the next life! I hope that I can be found worthy and that I can help my kids and others to find their way back to our heavenly home.
