I spent a few minutes this evening re-reading and thinking about 3 Nephi 27. It is interesting to me that the question the disciples asked of Christ, is what should the name of the Church be? It would seem that there would be so many other things that they would have wanted to ask him! But maybe he had already answered many of these things and those are some of the teachings that were not to be written. It also tells me that the name of the Church is of utmost importance! I think it's important that when asked we say we belong to "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" versus "Mormons" as we have been counseled in recent General Conferences.
ReplyDeleteIn verse 13, Christ explains that he has given us his gospel--he came to the world to do the will of the Father. And Christ explains his mission.
I also noticed that while Christ explains that each must be baptized, he also continues that with and endure to the end. It is not enough to be baptized, we must live our lives in righteousness so that we may return to our Father in Heaven.
